MONDAY 30 MARCH
Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open, all desires known and from whom no secrets are hidden, cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit that we may perfectly love you and worthily magnify your holy name, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
By your agony and trial;
by your cross and passion;
and by your precious death and burial,
good Lord, deliver us.
MARK 11:12-19
On the next day, as Jesus and his disciples were leaving Bethany, he felt hungry. In the distance, he saw a fig tree in leaf and walked toward it, hoping to find something to eat. But when he reached it, there was nothing—only leaves. It wasn’t the season for figs. Jesus said aloud, so his disciples could hear, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.”
Later, they arrived in Jerusalem. Jesus went into the temple and began to drive out the people who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those selling doves. He wouldn’t allow anyone to carry goods through the temple courts.
As he moved through the space, he taught the people, saying, “Is it not written: ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations’? But you have made it a den of robbers.”
The chief priests and scribes were watching. When they heard what he said, they began plotting how to kill him. They were afraid—because the whole crowd was captivated by his teaching. When evening came, Jesus and the disciples left the city.
To your cross, O Lord, we come for healing,
For you alone can make us whole.
We come with the broken-hearted and broken-spirited,
For you alone can make us whole.
We come with those with broken relationships,
For you alone can make us whole.
We come with the broken in body or in mind,
For you alone can make us whole.
We come with the sinner and victim
For you alone can make us whole.
We pray for today’s activities
We say the Lord’s prayer together
Lord of the overturning, your passion sweeps away the calculating religion, the pious profiteering which keep us safely outside the holy places: may we find our way through the debris of all that protected us to find your dangerous heart and our world upside down; through Jesus Christ, our exiled Lord.
Amen.
By your agony and trial;
by your cross and passion;
and by your precious death and burial,
good Lord, deliver us.
TUESDAY 31 MARCH
By your agony and trial;
by your cross and passion;
and by your precious death and burial,
good Lord, deliver us.
Blessed are you, Lord God of our salvation, to you be praise and glory for ever. As a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief your only Son was lifted up that he might draw the whole world to himself. May we walk this day in the way of the cross and always be ready to share its weight, declaring your love for all the world. Blessed be God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Blessed be God for ever
MARK 12:28-34
In the Temple courts, one of the scribes came near and heard them disputing with one another, and seeing that Jesus answered well, he asked him, ‘Which commandment is the first of all?’
Jesus answered, ‘The first is, “Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one; you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.” The second is this, “You shall love your neighbour as yourself.” There is no other commandment greater than these.’
Then the scribe said to him, ‘You are right, Teacher; you have truly said that “he is one, and besides him there is no other”; and “to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the strength”, and “to love one’s neighbour as oneself”,—this is much more important than all whole burnt-offerings and sacrifices.’
When Jesus saw that he answered wisely, he said to him, ‘You are not far from the kingdom of God.’ After that no one dared to ask him any question.
By the nails through your hands and feet,
give comfort to the suffering.
By the crown of thorns upon your head,
give hope to the despairing.
By the spear that pierced your side,
give courage to the broken-hearted.
By your being scorned and rejected by all,
give love to the lonely.
By your time of desolation,
lift up all who are down.
By your death on the cross,
give us life which is eternal.
Hear us, Lord Christ!
We pray for today’s activities
We say the Lord’s prayer together
God of Love, who asks no sacrifice of animal or outcast: turn our heart and mind to love all creatures and you, the source of life, that we might find our strength in the kingdom’s open feast, through Jesus Christ, the high priest of heaven.
Amen.
By your agony and trial;
by your cross and passion;
and by your precious death and burial,
good Lord, deliver us.

MARK 14:1-2 & 10-11
It was two days before the Passover and the festival of Unleavened Bread. The chief priests and the scribes were looking for a way to arrest Jesus by stealth and kill him, for they said, “Not during the festival, or there may be a riot among the people.”
Then Judas Iscariot, who was one of the twelve, went to the chief priests in order to betray him to them. When they heard it, they were greatly pleased, and promised to give him money. So he began to look for an opportunity to betray him.
To your cross, O Lord, we come for healing,
For you alone can make us whole.
We come with the broken-hearted and broken-spirited,
For you alone can make us whole.
We come with those with broken relationships,
For you alone can make us whole.
We come with the broken in body or in mind,
For you alone can make us whole.

We say the Lord’s prayer together
God made known in human frailty; your Chosen One walked through fields where bitterness flourished and mercy was enclosed: break through our conspiracies of power and teach us what it means to save and honour life; through Jesus Christ, our true High Priest.
Amen.
By your agony and trial;
by your cross and passion;
and by your precious death and burial,
good Lord, deliver us.

1 CORINTHIANS 11:23-26
For I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took a loaf of bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, ‘This is my body that is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.’
In the same way he took the cup also, after supper, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.’
For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
By the nails through your hands and feet,
give comfort to the suffering.
By the crown of thorns upon your head,
give hope to the despairing.
By the spear that pierced your side,

We say the Lord’s prayer together
God, whose word is engrained in all we eat and drink: free us from the consumption that destroys the roots of life; teach us to eat the living bread in whom all hungers are satisfied by the life that gives of itself and is never consumed; through Jesus Christ, the Lord of the harvest.
Amen.
By your agony and trial;
by your cross and passion;
and by your precious death and burial,
good Lord, deliver us.

MARK 15:15-20
So Pilate, wishing to satisfy the crowd, released Barabbas for them; and after flogging Jesus, he handed him over to be crucified. Then the soldiers led him into the courtyard of the palace (that is, the governor’s headquarters); and they called together the whole cohort. And they clothed him in a purple cloak; and after twisting some thorns into a crown, they put it on him. And they began saluting him, ‘Hail, King of the Jews!’ They struck his head with a reed, spat upon him, and knelt down in homage to him. After mocking him, they stripped him of the purple cloak and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him out to crucify him.
To your cross, O Lord, we come for healing,
For you alone can make us whole.
We come with the broken-hearted and broken-spirited,
For you alone can make us whole.
We come with those with broken relationships,
For you alone can make us whole.

For you alone can make us whole.
We come with the sinner and victim
For you alone can make us whole.
We pray for today’s activities
We say the Lord’s prayer together
Lord of the outstretched hand; sun-darkened wood was split, sand-blown skin was torn on the day you carried the lies and hate, the fear and suffering of all creatures into our Creator’s heart. May we follow you beyond condemnation and the terror of death to find our hope in love’s crossed beams; through Christ Jesus, who emptied himself for us.
Amen.
By your agony and trial;
by your cross and passion;
and by your precious death and burial,
good Lord, deliver us.

MARK 15:42-47
When evening had come, and since it was the day of Preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath, Joseph of Arimathea, a respected member of the council, who was also himself waiting expectantly for the kingdom of God, went boldly to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.
Then Pilate wondered if he were already dead; and summoning the centurion, he asked him whether he had been dead for some time. When he learned from the centurion that he was dead, he granted the body to Joseph.
Then Joseph bought a linen cloth, and taking down the body, wrapped it in the linen cloth, and laid it in a tomb that had been hewn out of the rock. He then rolled a stone against the door of the tomb. Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses saw where the body was laid.
Into your hands, O Lord,
I commend my spirit.
Into your hands, O Lord,
I commend my spirit.
For you have redeemed me,
Lord God of truth.
I commend my spirit.
Glory to the Father and to the Son
and to the Holy Spirit.
Into your hands, O Lord,
I commend my spirit.
We say the Lord’s prayer together
Lord Jesus Christ,
Son of the living God,
who lay in the tomb
and so hallowed the grave
to be a bed of hope
for all who put their trust in you:
give us such sorrow
for our sins which were
the cause of your passion
that when our bodies
lie in the dust,
our souls may live with
you for ever.
Amen.
By your agony and trial
by your cross and passion
and by your precious death and burial,
good Lord, deliver us.
