ABIDE: The Easter Threshold

Easter has never been a single day but a fifty-day season, stretching from sunrise on Easter morning to the Spirit falling upon the disciples at Pentecost. Last year we tried giving those fifty days a clearer shape through ABIDE resources called The Road to Pentecost. This year we continue that approach with a new ABIDE season, The Easter Threshold, helping us savour these weeks of resurrection. Our Sunday worship will put a spotlight on the first letter of Peter. Each week the passage from 1 Peter will sit at the centre of the service, alongside the Gospel and the reading from Acts, helping us listen for what resurrection means for the life of the church. Some people will encounter the season mainly through Sunday worship, others through ABIDE booklets at home, and others through the Wednesday or Friday groups at the Vicarage. Together they form a shared attempt to give the Easter season the attention it deserves — learning, week by week, what it means to live on the far side of the resurrection.
